My goals and dreams as a young boy were to be a great deer hunter like my dad.
He started bow hunting in the 1940s. As a young boy I would always ask my dad if I could go hunting with him, and he would take me occasionally.
I remember when I was seven years old; I made sure I was as quiet as possible in the stand, so that I wouldnt blow my opportunity to go hunting more often with him.
I knew that I had five years to go before I could hunt by myself, and I could hardly wait.
However, until then I needed to be quiet and still with my dad, so my hunting thrill could go on.
And it did! when I was eleven years old, I was hunting with my dad in a ground blind, and a nice buck came down the trail.
He gave my dad a 15-yard shot. My dad put the buck in his sights and let the arrow fly.
He made a good double-lung shot and we quickly recovered the buck.
That experience got me hooked for life. I thought that I would get my turn next year, and I sure did!
I bagged four deer my first year bow hunting! Now, here I am today, owner of Whitcombs Whitetails - a dream of a young boy has come true.
My goal at Whitcombs is to help you achieve your hunting goals, as well as to watch your hunting dreams come true.
Another goal of mine is to help or be part of shooting the next state record buck. There is no dream too big!
Keep your sites on your goals and dreams!
